Course Description

Course Dates 23rd June - Start Time 16:00 27th July - Start Time 08:00 The coast are the most exciting places to forage. The coasts have the greatest diversity of habitats and species, with choice edibles growing all year round. On a coastal foraging workshop we will be exploring the shores and salt marshes in West Sussex’s rich coastlines foraging for prime edibles such as samphire. We’ll also cover typical safety concerns, give guides on techniques to understand water quality and how seasonality affects the quality of the wild foods. We will have taster sessions throughout the course and finish with a botanical drink. Sustainability is just as important on the shore as it is inland, as always there will be tips on foraging practices to ensure there is no significant depletion or disruption to the stocks and environments. Start and finish times are in conjunction with the low tide and estimated as closely as possible to that. Under 18's are free.
