Course Description

A 3 hour guided medicinal herb walk in the beautiful county of Surrey with the lovely Isabel Openshaw. You can read more about Isabel below. Isabel started foraging along the hedgerows with her mother for elderflowers and blackberries to make cordial and jams. She quickly became in awe of how much there is growing around us which is not only edible, but also medicinal. She has always taken a keen interest in nutrition and wellbeing as well as being mindful to take care of our environment. She studied geography and statistics at undergraduate level with a research project based on the rainforests of North Borneo. For her masters she studied ecology, evolution and conservation with a research project in ectomycorrhizal fungi at Kew gardens. She is currently a researcher working at Kew gardens studying forests and soils. She has a deep connection with the trees and a love for all things nature with a background in ecology and conservation. She has done courses from the national institute of medical herbalists and guides people on foraging walks, teaching about the medicinal properties of plants. The course is tailored to introduce you to the medicinal uses of the wild plants we have growing around us. Identification is a key factor and Isabel will give you keys to identifying the wild plants you encounter and any lookalikes you may want to avoid. Under 18's are free
